How to backup Office 365 Exchange (C2C)

Find out more about our Office 365 C2C Backups

Our new Cloud to Cloud backup solution is perfect for backing up your cloud solutions to our cloud storage. We can backup numerous products, including SharePoint, G Suite, Dropbox, Office365 Exchange, Salesforce and many more.

For this guide, we will be focusing on how to backup Office 365 Exchange.

1. Log into your C2C portal. Once on the main page, you will see the below options. Please select Office 365 Exchange.

2. You will then be taken to the below options. Microsoft will be deprecating Basic Authentication for Exchange Online prior to completely removing the authentication method on October 13, 2020 so we recommend using the OAuth to grant permissions. This will allow the backup software to work but without having to input any passwords to your Office 365 account. You must however be signed in as a Global Admin to do this. Application Impersonation is also required (see step 3).

3. As mentioned above, to allow both methods to work, you need to configure the ApplicationImpersonation role on the Office 365 portal. Below is how to do this. You need add the account you are going to be using to allow the backup software to access Office 365.

4. Once you have chosen your authorisation method, you will be taken to the page below. Here you can customise how you want the backup to run. You can choose the schedule; which accounts are backed up; whether any new accounts are automatically backed up and much more.

5. And that is it. You can then go to your backups and view the new backup. If the schedule has been set to a later time, it will tell you the time till the next backup. If you want to start one immediately, you can also press the start button and get one going. Here is where you will make changes to the backup as well.
